Xiangming introduced the project objectives, approaches and research activities to the Royal Society of Biology (RSB)
17/03/2025: Introducing the GIN project at the strawberry symposium
Xiangming and Graham discussed the sfGIN objectives, approaches and research activities with researchers from many countries who attended the 10th International Strawberry Symposium in China
11/04/2025: We are recruiting a PhD student working on a fully funded strawberry project
This scholarship on the "impacts of water-use efficiency on strawberry fruit production and qualityis" is available only to those assessed as home fee paying students and due start in September 2025.
06/05/2025: 12th Rosaceae Genomic Conference
Felicidad presented a poster introducing the sfGIN at the conference with ca. 250 participants.
09/07/2025: Fruit Focus 2025
Xiangming presented a talk at the Fruit Focus event, outlining the key research, development, and industry engagement activities.
25/09/2025: British Berry Growers Technical Day
Nikki gave an invited presentation at the meeting, introducing key research, development, and industry engagement activities, and inviting active engagement from BBG members.
01/10/2025: A new PhD student started at East Malling
Xavier Mara-Gregory started his PhD research project at East Malling, focusing on the genetics of water use efficiency in strawberry. He is supervised by Graham Dow and Abi Johnson at East Malling, and registered with Kent University at Canterbury (Dr Helen Cockerton is his university supervisor).
11/2025: Training video
Paul of JHI organised a training session on using Germinate and associated resources for integrating and interrogating various genotypic and phenotypic data sets. Feedbacks from the training session will be used to further improve these data tools. The training recording is available here.
03/12/2025: The First Open Dissemination event
We organised the first sfGIN Open Dissemination Event, together with Niab's Soft Fruit Day (Niab Soft Fruit Day - 3 December 2025 | NIAB). This event is an hybrid event, and attracted 60 people to the event at East Malling and another ca. 230 joined the live stream during the day.
